Longtime regulars can still find similar English muffin-style bread at The ABC Bakery, while the article traces the cafe’s many owners and its deep roots in Jackson’s dining history.
   

2. 1,500 sign petition to reevaluate Jackson's downtown parking requirements (wilx.com) — Downtown Jackson drivers could soon face much steeper parking costs, with fines jumping from $7 to $28 and permit fees rising as the city tries to close a $355,000 maintenance shortfall. More than 1,500 people have already signed a petition urging officials to rethink the plan, worried about the impact on residents, workers, and small businesses when new rules begin rolling out in early 2026.

May They Rest in Peace: Sr. George Ellen Brannick, IHM (detroitcatholic.com) — Longtime Jackson resident and educator Sister George Ellen Brannick, IHM, who grew up in Jackson and taught for decades at St. John’s parish school, has died at age 99. Services will be held Monday, Dec. 15, at the IHM Motherhouse Chapel in Monroe, with a livestream available and memorials directed to the IHM Retirement Fund.
   

4. ‘They all are to blame,' says grandpa of man killed in crash during road rage fight on M-60 (mlive.com) — A young father was killed after a roadside confrontation on M-60 near Concord ended with him and another man being struck by a passing truck, and Jackson County prosecutors have not yet received a case from state police. Family members say they don’t expect charges as investigators continue treating the incident as an accident. Loved ones have already laid him to rest with community support covering funeral costs.
