AAA: Michigan gas prices jumped 3 cents since last week (theoaklandpress.com) — Drivers in Jackson are paying about $2.87 per gallon for gas, putting the city among the most expensive in Michigan even as statewide prices remain below last year. AAA expects nearly 3.5 million Michiganders to hit the road over the holidays, with current prices easing travel costs compared with 2024.
   

2. Millions in state funding cancelled for Jackson's Hayes Hotel and homeless center projects (fox47news.com) — Major redevelopment plans in downtown Jackson have been thrown into doubt after state lawmakers cancelled a $4.5 million grant for the Hayes Hotel project and a $1 million grant for a planned homeless center. Local legislators from both parties say they’ll push to restore some funding, while community leaders debate the hotel’s future and broader impact on the city.
   

3. Jackson police recover $50K of stolen property (wlns.com) — Jackson residents should know police say they’ve recovered more than $50,000 in stolen merchandise after a retail fraud case that began at a local store on December 9. Investigators traced the suspect to an Eaton County residence, where they found electronics, clothing, and other items believed taken from stores across Michigan.
   

4. Melrose Foundation funds GCSAA show for 18; GCSAA updates BMP tool (turfnet.com) — A Cascades Golf Course professional from Jackson has been selected for the 2026 Melrose Leadership Academy, giving local golf course management some national recognition and professional development support. The piece also highlights new, easier-to-use tools from the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America that help courses nationwide improve environmental and maintenance practices.
