Here are the top three stories today in Lansing-East Lansing:

  1. Mr. Leslie’s Cheesecakes, a Lansing-based cheesecake business, has been awarded a $25,000 Match on Main grant from Downtown Lansing Inc. to purchase equipment and open a retail location. The company currently wholesales its products in grocery stores around Michigan. This grant is part of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation's initiative to support small local businesses, with a total of $697,325 awarded to 28 communities around Michigan, which is expected to create 70 full-time jobs and 144 part-time jobs.   2. More than 1,000 people are expected to be present this morning (Apr. 8) at the Lansing Easter egg hunt as long as the weather permits. The annual egg hunt hosted by JCI Lansing will feature live music, a variety of mascots, activities, and pictures with the Easter Bunny. A wonderful kick-off to Easter weekend, the hopes are families can come out and enjoy a wonderful event in the community. Pictures with the Easter Bunny will begin at 10 a.m. and the hunt will start at 10:45 a.m. (WLNS)
  3. Lansing police are currently investigating an incident that occurred on Friday morning resulting in two men being injured, one of which passed away in the hospital. Police responded around 6:45 a.m. to the 1100 block of Dorchester Circle and found a victim in a hallway with a gunshot wound to the chest; he received treatment on the scene but succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Another man was reportedly injured during an altercation on the scene. If anyone has information, please contact Lansing police. (WILX)
