MI Bar Known For Stock Market-Style Beer Prices Closes Down
The bar was best known for its beer prices that moved up and down like stock prices.
KALAMAZOO, MI — A Michigan bar that is known for its up and down beer prices is permanently closing down this weekend, according to a social media post.
The Kalamazoo Beer Exchange will close down for good the weekend of Dec. 20 after 15 years, according to the post.
"We invite you to join us in raising a glass one final time as we celebrate the moments, memories, and community we love so much," read the post. "We extend our heartfelt thanks to our fantastic staff for their dedication and hard work over the years, as well as to all our regulars, friends, and family, whose support has helped make the Beer Exchange truly one of a kind."

The bar was best known for its beer prices that moved up and down like stock prices. The prices varied based on supply and demand, with occasional "crashes" that would bring every beer to its lowest price for five minutes.
While the Kalamazoo Bar Exchange is closing, the owners are excited about their new planned Kalamazoo establishment, The Old Skool Bar, which is expected to open sometime in winter 2026, according to its Facebook page.

The owners of the Kalamazoo Beer Exchange also owned a spot in Detroit that was called The Detroit Beer Exchange. That location closed down in 2024.
