Here are the top three stories in Lansing-East Lansing today:
- The City of East Lansing is encouraging residents to observe "No Mow May," which asks that locals voluntarily commit to avoiding mowing during the month of May. The worldwide initiative hopes to encourage a stable and safe environment for pollinators like bees. Sign up to participate and learn more about the initiative here. (WLNS)
- The final student at Sparrow Health who was hospitalized following the Michigan State University Feb. 13 shooting has been discharged. The student is reported to be in critical but stable condition and was transferred from the hospital to another facility for rehabilitation. Sparrow Hospital spokesperson John Foren said that the hospital system hopes to never have to respond to another mass shooting event and said of the injured students, "just because they've been discharged from the hospital doesn't mean their journey is concluded. This is going to be long and painful for many people for a while.” (WKAR)
- Lansing Community College announced that Quentin L. Messer Jr. will be the speaker for the school’s upcoming 65th commencement ceremony. Messer serves as the Michigan Economic Development Corporation CEO, the president and chair of the Michigan Strategic Fund, and a member of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's cabinet in other positions. The commencement ceremony is scheduled for May 11 at 7:00 p.m. at Michigan State University's Jack Breslin Student Events Center. (FOX 47 News Lansing - Jackson)

- It's almost Easter weekend, and there's plenty to do to get into the spirit in and around the Lansing area. Check out this roundup of events happening from Apr. 6-9, including the Easter Egg Hunt at the Michigan State Capitol on Saturday, Apr. 8 at 10:00 a.m. (witl.com)
- Gov. Gretchen Whitmer officially repealed Michigan's 1931 abortion ban on Wednesday. The repeal comes more than 90 years after the ban was officially instated. (FOX 47 News Lansing - Jackson)
- The East Lansing Public Library is offering a great springtime program for the kids! On Apr. 15 from 3:30-4:30 p.m., kids can come down to the library to participate in a workshop about how to grow a garden from seeds, led by MSU Extension's Dr. Brent Crain. - It's been a wet year, and Lansing would like to remind residents to travel safely in potentially flooding conditions.
