1 Dead, 2 Hurt In Crash Involving Semi In Metro Detroit: Sheriff

Police do not believe alcohol played a role in the crash.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP, MI — One person is dead and two others were injured in a Monday afternoon multi-vehicle crash in Macomb Township, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.

The crash happened at the intersection of Garfield Road and Adelaide Drive (between 22 and 23 Mile Roads) at 1:52 p.m. Monday afternoon, according to the sheriff's office.

Witnesses told police that a blue Jeep Compass sped through a stop sign on Adelaide at Garfield roads and struck a semi truck, according to the sheriff's office.

The impact of the crash caused the semi truck to hit a white Ford Escape, which was trying to avoid the semi, according to the sheriff's office.

The driver of the Jeep was killed in the crash and was the only person inside the vehicle, according to the sheriff's office.
