1 Dead in I-94 Crash That Shut Down Road For Hours

The crash shutdown eastbound I-94 for more than three hours.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, MI—A fatal car accident Tuesday morning on eastbound I-94 at Metro Parkway in Macomb County has killed one and left another injured, according to the Macomb County's Sheriff's office.

According to the news release, Macomb County police identified the victim as Allen Jasmund, 71, of Harrison Township. He died at the scene.

A woman who was also in Jasmund's car was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Jasmound was speeding when he entered the highway from 16 mile road and hit a guardrail before crashing into a concrete wall, the sheriff's office said. He was not wearing a seatbelt and the crash is not believed to be related to drugs and alcohol.

The highway is back open, as Macomb County Police continue their investigation.
