ARMADA, MI — Two Armada police officers were injured Wednesday after a fight with a man while serving him mental health papers, according to multiple reports, citing Armada Police Chief Richard Maierle.

Maierle said one of the officers was thrown off a second-floor balcony from a home on Fulton St. in Armada Township on Wednesday night. The officer suffered fractures to his spine, four broken ribs, a bruised lung, a broken nose and lacerations, according to reports.

"When our officer arrived, the female homeowner said the guy was non-combative to police," Maierle told the Macomb Daily. "But as soon as he sees our officer, he went right after him, picked him up and threw him over the stair railing."
