Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham and Jim Santilli, the executive director of the Traffic Improvement Association of Michigan, presented a plaque of appreciation to Air Station Detroit Wednesday at Selfridge for its outstanding leadership during the production of a distracted driving awareness video that was filmed in Clinton Township late last year.Â
The video has been viewed in more than 90 countries, and continues to receive worldwide attention. Most recently, The Boeing Company contacted Santilli and requested permission to show the video at an employee safety fair. Santilli also shared the video with National Transportation Safety Board Chairman Deborah A.P. Hersman.
Commander Joseph Deer, commanding officer of the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Detroit, accepted the award on behalf of Air Station Detroit.
