Michigan First Credit Union Awards $1,000 Scholarships to Local Seniors

The Michigan First Foundation has awarded $1,000 scholarships to four local students.

This is the 11th year for the scholarship awards, which give $1,000 to graduating high school seniors who are Michigan First members and attend the high schools within the communities the credit union serves.

The students are selected based on academic achievement, community involvement, extra-curricular activities, leadership, special talents and civic/social responsibility.

“It’s always an honor to award these scholarships to some of the best and brightest students in metro Detroit,” said Poulos, who is also president of the Michigan First Foundation, in a prepared statement. “Whether it is through our 27 student-run credit union branches at locals schools, our Young & Free Michigan program or our scholarships to deserving graduates, we are committed to ongoing education and giving students the tools to succeed.”
