An anonymous donor contributing tens of thousands of dollars to Macomb County Habitat for Humanity doubled the non-profit organization's fundraising total at an event on Saturday.
Habitat for Humanity's 20th anniversary dinner at the Palazzo Grande in Shelby Township, which was headlined by a concert with singer Jose Feliciano, raised over $96,000, according to early reports from the organization.
"We were honored to have Jose Feliciano and our many, many donors and friends join us for this celebration," said executive director Helen Hicks. "We raised a great deal of money that will go directly to helping people in the community, and that large anonymous donation will have a tremendous impact in the lives of the families we help find a home."

Many live and silent auction items contributed to the grand total. All proceeds will go directly to Macomb County Habitat for Humanity and its mission to build homes and frame families.
