DNR Extends Macomb's Deer Bow Hunting Season Through January

The state Department of Natural Resources has extended the archery deer season on Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties, areas that fall under the auspices of the Urban Deer Management Zone. The season was extended to Jan. 31, 2018.

In a statement, Chad Stewart, a deer specialist with the Department of Natural Resources, says the extension is meant to help urban areas deal with overpopulation of deer. “There can be excellent hunting opportunities available for archery hunters in January,” Stewart said “This extended season also could be used to help benefit municipalities by using archers as a low-cost first attempt to resolve their urban deer conflicts.”
