ARMADA, MI — A man is facing charges after assaulting two Armada Police Officers on Wednesday, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office.

Christopher Lynch, 43, of Armada Village, was charged with resisting and obstructing a police office causing serious injury (15 year felony) and resisting and obstructing a police officer causing injury (four year felony), according to the prosecutor's office.

Armada Police Chief Richard Maierle said Lynch threw an officer from a second-floor balcony from a home on Fulton St. in Armada Township on Wednesday night while being served mental health papers.

The officer suffered fractures to his spine, four broken ribs, a bruised lung, a broken nose and lacerations, according to reports.

The other officer suffered injuries and bruises in the fight, but didn't break any bones, though "he's in considerable pain," Maierle said, according to reports.

Additional officers eventually arrived at the scene and were able to arrest the man, reports said.

Prosecutors said Lynch has espoused anti-police and anti-government views in the past.

"Violence against police officers needs to stop," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said. "Police officers are doing their job to protect our community and I will prosecute those who cause them harm while performing their duty."
