Macomb Co. Woman Wins $150K Lottery Prize Just After Finishing College

The lucky 25-year-old player told lottery officials winning the prize gives her an opportunity for a fresh start financially.

MACOMB COUNTY, MI — A Macomb County woman got a head start in paying back her student loans after winning a $150,000 prize from the Michigan Lottery, according to lottery officials.

The lucky 25-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, won the prize from the Michigan Lottery’s Cashword instant game online, according to lottery officials.

It was her first time playing the game, according to lottery officials.

"I had never played Lottery games online before, but I decided to try out the Cashword game while on MichiganLottery.com one day," the woman told lottery officials. "After a few plays the amount of $150,000 came up on the screen with fireworks and I instantly started hyperventilating from shock and excitement! I still can’t believe that I won my very first time playing online."

"I just graduated from college last week, so winning this prize means I can already pay off all my student loans and it gives me a fresh start financially," she added.

Michigan Lottery players have a chance to win up to $2.1 million instantly playing online. Players also may win prizes ranging from $1 up to multimillion-dollar jackpots playing Powerball, Mega Millions, Lucky for Life, Lotto 47, and Fantasy 5 online.
