MACOMB TOWNSHIP, MI — A man was arrested Saturday after three kids were found wandering outside a Macomb Township home without winter coats or shoes, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.

The 36-year-old Macomb Township man was arrested in connection with the incident and placed in the Macomb County Jail. He has since been bailed out of jail. No other details about potential charges were released.

Officers were called to a home in the 47100 block of Blossom Lane near 21 Mile and Romeo Plank roads where they found the children, all under the age of four, at 9:15 a.m. wandering outside near the street, according to the sheriff's office.

The three kids were taken to a doctor to be examined because of the cold weather, according to the sheriff's office.

Saturday's high temperature in the area was 34 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Once the children were cleared by a doctor, they were turned over to their mother, according to the National Weather Service.

"I am appalled at the decision of the suspect to leave his very young children home alone to fend for themselves," Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said in a statement. "We are so thankful for the good Samaritan who initially stopped and tended to these children until deputies arrived."
