DTE Contractor Killed After Utility Truck Hits Power Lines In Macomb County: Officials
Officials said the man was killed after the boom arm of a vacuum truck that he was driving collided with overhead power lines.
ARMADA TOWNSHIP, MI — A DTE Energy contractor was killed in an electrical fire while on the job Thursday afternoon in northern Macomb County, according to officials.
The incident happened at 1 p.m. Thursday on Powell Road near 32 Mile Road in Armada Township, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.
A 61-year-old man was driving a vacuum truck when the boom arm of the truck collided with power lines, sparking a fire that engulfed the truck, according to a Fox 2 Detroit report.

The 61-year-old man was killed in the incident, according to the sheriff's office.
A DTE Spokesperson confirmed the contractor "came into contact with overhead equipment and was fatally wounded."

"We send our love and support to his family and loved ones. Our teams are currently on the scene, working with first responders and local officials to assist with the investigation," a statement from DTE said.
The roadway was closed for several hours, but reopened late Thursday night, according to the sheriff's office.
