• Presque Isle Pavilion nixed as overflow space for unhoused people in Marquette (wnmufm.org) — Marquette’s City Commission has decided not to use the Presque Isle Pavilion as overflow space for unhoused residents, opting instead for a temporary solution that doesn’t involve city facilities. Officials and Room at the Inn agree the pavilion plan wasn’t workable, and city leaders stress that a broader, long-term regional approach to homelessness is still urgently needed.
   

• Marquette Symphony Orchestra, NMU Choir to perform holiday concert (uppermichiganssource.com) — Marquette music lovers can catch the Marquette Symphony Orchestra and NMU Choir in a special “Sounds of the Holidays” concert, with an abridged performance still open Sunday at 2 p.m. in Kaufman Auditorium. Saturday’s show is sold out, but Sunday tickets remain available through all NMU ticket outlets, offering a festive way to celebrate the season together.
   

• Gov. Whitmer announces funding for redevelopment projects in Escanaba & Marquette (wzmq19.com) — Downtown Marquette is set to gain an 11-unit mixed-use building at 401 W. Washington Street, backed by a $1.5 million state grant and local brownfield support. The project will turn a long-vacant, blighted structure into new workforce housing, retail space, and indoor parking, with local and state leaders calling it a key step in strengthening Marquette’s core.
