Lusardi said that as of Friday afternoon there are 380 holds on the book in the Suburban Library Cooperative, including 40 requests from Chesterfield Township.

Fifty Shades of Grey is a racy and controversial novel that tops the New York Times paperback trade fiction bestsellers list. It's also part of a trilogy that includes Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed. All of the books are written by E.L. James.

It has become a hit with book clubs, Twilight fans and even patrons at the Chesterfield Township Library.

“As soon as it came in, it flew off the shelves,” said Lusardi, who also added the library is ordering more copies of the novel.

Still, if you want to read the book, Lusardi offers one bit of advice: be patient.
