Chesterfield Resident to Open Family Arcade and Banquet Facility in Clinton Township

A new business owned by a Chesterfield woman is moving into Clinton Township and its focus is family fun.

Clinton Township’s Board of Trustees approved The Memory Room this week to move into the storefront at 20690 Hall Road, located in the Pointe Village Square shopping mall at the southeast corner of Hall and Heydenreich roads.

The Memory Room is the brainchild of Dana-Marie Serio, an accountant by day and DJ by night.

A combination family arcade and banquet center, The Memory Room is designed to serve two different purposes for one key audience – middle class families who have a limited budget for entertainment.

On weekdays from 5-9 p.m., Serio told the township board she envisions a place where families can enjoy an evening out together. The Memory Room will feature a variety of entertainment such as kids’ karaoke, dancing, face painting, video games, arcade games and a bounce house. Fridays will be family movie nights.

As the business grows, special events such as Dinner with Santa, Daddy-Daughter Dances and Halloween dances, all geared toward young children, will be added.

The business will change gears on weekends, when the space will be transformed into a banquet hall, open from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

“This business is more for the middle class who want to have something nice but don’t have a ton of cash to spend at a banquet hall,” Serio wrote in her business plan to the township.

The hall would be reservation-only and able to accommodate birthday parties, showers, retirement parties and even weddings. Serio told the township she plans to work with a variety of licensed vendors to provide catering for the hall, as no food or beverages will be prepared on site.

She added that regardless of whether the hall is being used for a 16th birthday party or a family movie night, parental supervision will be required for young children and teens.

“It appears that this is going to be a reasonably good use for the property,” said Supervisor Robert Cannon. “Currently the building sits vacant. It has been vacant for quite some time and it would be nice to see what appears to be a family-oriented business in this site.”

No opening date has been set for The Memory Room.
