Freezing Weather, Possible Lake Effect Snow Hits State This Week

National Weather service predicts arctic blast for Michigan, possible lake effect snow

Warm weather today will give way to freezing temperatures as an arctic blast hits the state Wednesday. According to the National Weather Service, the freezing weather is coming, and it’s coming to stay for a while.

National Weather Service meteorologist Brian Mead predicts harsh temps and real winter weather for the state by midweek.

“We have one more mild day on Monday,” Mead said, adding that we may also get rain, too. There will be a “cold front comes blasting through Tuesday. From there on out it changes to a pattern more like winter with snow showers and high temperatures not even reaching freezing,” Mead added.

Lake effect snow may hit communities along Lake Michigan and Grand Rapids area later in the week, too.

"From Wednesday all the way into the following weekend, high temperatures probably only around 30 degrees," Mead said. Lansing radio station WKAR is following the situation. For more of their coverage, check them out online or on the air.
