Girl, 7, Critically Hurt In Chesterfield Twp. Hit-And-Run Crash: Cops

Police said the girl was trying to cross a road with her older sister when she was hit by a driver who never stopped.

CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI — A 7-year-old girl was critically injured Thursday night in a Chesterfield Township hit-and-run crash, police said.

Police said the girl was hit by a car at 9 p.m. while trying to cross Gratiot Avenue just north of 23 Mile Road with her older sister.

The girl suffered "significant injuries" and was taken to a nearby hospital where she was listed in critical but stable condition, police said.

The driver who hit the girl never stopped and sped away north on Gratiot Avenue, police said. Officials believe the car was a 2020-2022 white or black Kia Optima sedan. Officials also believe the car has front end damage.

No further details were released by police.
