Cheers! North Center Brewing Co. a Step Closer to Reality

The Michigan Liquor Control Commission still has to weigh in on proposed 44-seat microbrewery in Northville.

With the blessing of the Northville City Council, Kevin DeGrood is a step closer to starting construction on what will become the North Center Brewing Co.

DeGrood still needs the go-ahead from the Michigan Liquor Control Commission, which has 90 days to act on the application, The Observer & Eccentric reports.

The City Council voted, 5-0, earlier this month to approve DeGrood’s microbrewery application after Northville Police Chief Michael Carlson recommended approval and said there was “no reason to object to … this request, subject to final inspections and code compliance.

Officials had tabled DeGrood’s application in September pending approval of a parking agreement.

“We can now start construction on the inside and move full steam ahead on getting the application reviewed by the state,” DeGrood said. “We’re excited.”

The microbrewery will offer seating for 44 in its tasting room and offer pre-packaged snacks. Menus from local restaurants will also be available so patrons can order food from local businesses and eat it at the brewery.

Expected hours are 5-11 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, 5 p.m.-midnight Fridays, noon-midnight Saturdays, and noon-8 p.m. Sundays. The business will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
