Living and Learning Enrichment Center Announces 2025 Summer Camp for Teens and Young Adults with Disabilities

The summer camps offer participants a rich blend of learning, fun and personal development

NORTHVILLE, Mich. — Living and Learning Enrichment Center is pleased to announce its lineup of summer camps specifically designed for teens and young adults with disabilities.

Living and Learning camps will provide a rich blend of learning, fun, and personal development in a supportive and engaging environment. Located on the nonprofit organization’s scenic 12-acre property at 801 Griswold St. in Northville, Living and Learning offers a secure and welcoming setting for participants to explore interests, cultivate social and job skills, and build lifelong friendships.

“Our summer camps are more than just a place to have fun,” said Morgan Horning, Living and Learning Enrichment Center camp coordinator. “They’re a safe space where teens and young adults with disabilities can discover new passions, build confidence, and form lasting friendships in a supportive and inclusive environment."

The 2025 summer camps will run from June 23 through August 14, either on a Monday-Thursday or Monday-Friday schedule depending on the week. Participants can choose from two specialized programs:

Camp Lotus
$525 (Monday-Thursday: Week 1, Week 2, Week 4, Week 6, Week 8) $650 (Monday-Friday: Week 3, Week 5, Week 7) Designed for campers ready to enhance social skills, independence, and personal growth while building meaningful friendships.

Camp Willow
$575 (Monday-Thursday: Week 1, Week 2, Week 4, Week 6, Week 8) $700 (Monday-Friday: Week 3, Week 5, Week 7) A supportive space for campers who may need extra assistance — fostering connection, adaptability, and a strong sense of community.

Summer camp programming is overseen by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst, ensuring that each activity is impactful, and every camper's needs are met effectively. Additionally, each week campers will enjoy themed activities designed to integrate vital life and social skills with fun:

  • Week 1: "Lights, Camera, Action!" – Campers will explore the magic of performing arts and self-expression with a chance to shine in an optional talent show at the end of the week!
  • Week 2: "Stars and Stripes Celebration" – A celebration of the Fourth of July with themed activities, snacks and challenges as well as a backyard-style “picnic party.”
  • Week 3: "Splish, Splash, Water Bash" – A week of fun water-based activities featuring creative games and refreshing adventures.
  • Week 4: "Cooking, Cultures and Connection" – Campers will explore international cuisines and learn how to make delicious dishes from different cultures.
  • Week 5: "STEM Science Spectacular” – Campers will explore fun activities such as building a simple robot and launching homemade rockets and include solving STEM-themed challenges.
  • Week 6: "All-Star Sports" – Encouraging teamwork and sportsmanship through fun games and team challenges.
  • Week 7: “Down on the Farm" – This week offers hands-on experiences with our friendly farm animals including alpacas, chickens, bunnies and more.
  • Week 8: "Back to Nature Adventures" – A week of outdoor adventures and learning essential outdoor skills.

"Each week is thoughtfully designed to blend engaging activities with meaningful skill-building, helping our campers grow socially, emotionally, and independently while making the most of their summer,” said Horning.
