Northville Girls Basketball Beats Stevenson With Key Player Out

Having to play without junior starter Heather Randall, who suffered a sprained ankle late in last Friday's win over Salem, the Northville Mustangs came together Tuesday to pick up the slack and play a well-rounded game against Livonia Stevenson. Randall was the Mustangs leading rebounder this season.  All nine players chipped in to play a role in the win as Northville put pressure on the Spartans early and forced them into 23 turnovers on the night. Triples in the first quarter by Kendra Brenner and Brittany Berehulka sparked an early Mustang lead that they would never give up. Stevenson, down 15 entering the fourth quarter, tried to stage a rally and cut the Mustang lead to just 10, but Northville made 11-12 foul shots in final quarter (16-17 overall) to keep the Spartans from getting any closer.  

Randall does a lot of little things on the floor that the common observer doesn't notice. We asked our players to each make one more play, and together as a team we can help to replace the production she usually gives us. We've had to play games this season without our full team, so this is nothing different other than it's going to be for a few weeks instead of a game or two. It was nice to finally have a game that wasn't a nail bitter. The girls came out aggressive and took control early.  

Northville, 7-1 overall, 2-0 division, travels to Novi Friday.
