Northville Shop Gardenviews Brings Nature Indoors

The 17-year-old business offers home decor and gifts with a garden theme.

Gardenviews in downtown Northville first opened in May of 1995, but not where it is today.

It was first in the location of the old gas station where the Garage Grill & Fuel Bar is now. Gardenviews moved one and a half blocks east in 2010 to 117 East Main Street.

"We're really happy about the move," said co-owner Lou Mascolo. "Now we’re in the middle of all the action, all the activity."

Patrons of the store at its first location will remember that Gardenviews carried heavy stone and cement products for the outdoors like benches, planters and statuary.

"It was too heavy for customers, so we started carrying a product caller fiber stone," Mascolo said.

Fiber stone is cement coated over fiberglass and has 25 percent of the weight of cement, he said. The store still sells cement products, but on a smaller scale.

Mascolo and store co-owner Lori Jermont have steered Gardenviews more toward home decor.

"We’ve introduced new lines of lighting, lamps, ceiling fixtures, wall décor, mirrors and table linens," he said.

The business continues a garden theme, however, as it's slogan is: “We open your home to nature.”

Mascolo said the store gets two to three shipments every week of new products and he is expecting a delivery of ornamental elves and dragons soon.

Gardenviews is open seven days a week in downtown Northville. To find out more, visit its website or Facebook page.
