Police Find Marijuana During Drunk Driving Arrest

City of Northville police provided this information. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

City of Northville police arrested two men around 2 a.m. Sept. 28 — a Florida man on charges of driving while intoxicated and a Pontiac man on charges of possessing marijuana, according to a police report.

An officer saw the driver of a gray Ford Escape weaving on Novi Road and turn right onto Eight Mile Road while disregarding "no turn on red" signs, the report said. The officer stopped the driver who said he had two beers before driving, according to the report.

The officer also noticed a small green leaf on his shirt. The officer asked how it got there and the man said that it may have fallen off a girl he was dancing next to at a club, the report said.

The man took a preliminary breathalyzer test, which had a result of .10 blood alcohol content, according to the report. The legal limit is .08 percent blood alcohol content. The officer arrested him.

While searching the vehicle, the officer found two clear plastic bags that appeared to have marijuana in the center console and a pipe under the front passenger seat, according to the report. The officer searched that passenger, the man from Pontiac, and found a small bag of a green leafy substance in his wallet, the report said. He was charged with possessing marijuana. He posted a $200 bond. The driver did not need to post a bond because his blood test results needed to be submitted to a prosecutor, the report said.
