Boy Drowns At Oakland County Park: Sheriff

Police believe the drowning was accidental and were still investigating the incident.

MILFORD TOWNSHIP, MI — A 17-year-old boy drowned Monday afternoon while swimming at the public beach area at Camp Dearborn in Milford Township, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

Alhasan Dahbali, of Hamtramck, was reported missing shortly after 1 p.m. when his group members could not find him, according to the sheriff's office.

Officials then found Dahbali’s body at 2:53 p.m. in six feet of water and about 30 feet from the shore, according to the sheriff's office.

Divers from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team, along with other members of the Southeast Michigan Dive Group, including divers from Genesee, Livingston and Wayne counties, Michigan State Police and the Huron-Clinton Metro Parks assisted in the search.

The park, which is owned by the City of Dearborn, said the public beach was closed until further notice.

"We appreciate your patience and cooperation," officials said in a statement.
