Crime Report: Employee Assaulted When Man Kisses Her in Twelve Oaks Mall

The following information was supplied by the Novi Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

A female employee reported that a man assaulted her by kissing her while she was working at in around 11 a.m. Jan. 25, according to a report. The woman said the man had been shopping in the store for approximately 10-15 minutes and was trying on women’s high-heeled shoes, the report said. The man then asked the worker to put a hold on a pair of the shoes and began talking to her, the report said. The woman told police that he was standing very close to her and that she felt uncomfortable, so she took a couple of steps to the side, the report said. She said he stepped in, reached with his left hand and pulled her toward him and gave her a kiss on the left cheek, the report said.

The woman told police that she was surprised and bothered and that the kiss was not like the “European type of greeting,” the report said. The man continued to talk to her until she was able to end the conversation and he left, the report said. The woman gave police a description of the man, and her co-workers have been notified to look out for him, the report said.

More than 20 lawns damaged by car

A Novi Police officer on patrol during the night of Jan. 15 discovered that numerous lawns had been damaged in the Greenwood Oaks and Mocking Bird subdivisions, according to the police report. The officer followed a vehicle's tracks that started from Beck Road and drove over several sidewalks and eight lawns on Greenwich Drive, the report said. The vehicle then drove over more than a dozen lawns on Holyoke, Rochester, Woodham and Mockingbird Court before exiting the subdivision onto 10 Mile Road, the report said. The police do not have any suspects, the report said.

Copper piping stolen

A contractor reported that copper piping was stolen from a residence on Pembine Street sometime between Jan. 3-6, according to a police report. The contractor was called to the residence because there was no water for the new renters moving in, and he found that the copper piping had been removed from the crawl space under the residence, the report said. According to the report, the crawl space is accessed by a small, unsecured door on the exterior of the south side of the house. The report said the contractor told police he had also worked on the residence next door in the past and that piping had been stolen from that residence. The police do not have any suspects, the report said.
