Mod Market Invites Community to "Purchase with Purpose" This Holiday

NORTHVILLE, Mich. – This holiday season, Mod Market located at 150 Mary Alexander Ct. in Northville, invites shoppers to purchase meaningful gifts that make a difference in the lives of teens and young adults with disabilities.

As an enterprise of the Living and Learning Enrichment Center, Mod Market provides employment opportunities and job-skills training for teens and young adults with disabilities — all in a welcoming, inclusive environment. Proceeds from store purchases support Living and Learning’ s life changing programming while offering shoppers unique, handcrafted gifts perfect for every taste and budget.

“Mod Market is so much more than a typical gift shop,” said Pamela Travis, Executive Director of Living and Learning Enrichment Center. “When you shop here, you’re not only supporting local artisans, but also empowering members of the neurodiverse community to develop skills and gain meaningful work experience. This holiday season, your purchases at Mod Market can truly make a difference in the lives of those with disabilities.”

Mod Market showcases over 1,500 unique items, with approximately 50 percent created by individuals with special needs, and highlights the work of more than 100 talented artists. The curated selection includes home decor, jewelry, clothing, candles, bath and body products, kids' items, paintings, and an array of holiday-themed gifts. A standout feature is the “Uniquely Mod” collection, crafted by participants in the Living and Learning program.

The market’s holiday offerings include a wide range of one-of-a-kind items, from artwork and jewelry to serve ware and holiday-themed decor. Shoppers also can explore special “Purchase with Purpose” items, where proceeds directly fund Living and Learning’s employment training programs:

• Heart Logo Sticker ($10): Provides training materials for one trainee.
• Set of 3 Notecards ($25): Provides one hour of employment training for an adult with disabilities, featuring artwork by MOD Market members Nick Bair, Malcolm Wang, and Logan G.
• Soy Wax Candle ($50): Provides two hours of employment training for an adult with disabilities.
