Novi Fire Department Promotes Captain

Mark Theisen is the city's newest fire captain.

There's a new captain in Novi's fire department. That captain is Lieutenant Mark Theisen.

Theisen was selected after placing first in a competitive promotional process, according to a news release from the City of Novi.

“Captain Theisen has demonstrated a proven ability in advancing the mission, vision and values of the Novi Fire Department," said Chief of Police David E. Molloy in the release. “The Fire Captain is a key leadership position in our Public Safety team; working in partnership with our full and part-time personnel, Captain Theisen will continue to enhance the quality services our community is known for delivering.”

Since beginning his career with the Novi fire department in 2006, Theisen trained several new firefighters and taught CPR and AED courses to many City of Novi staff. He partnered with colleagues on Novi’s Geographical Information Services team to develop a mobile mapping solution for fire apparatus laptop computers and smart phones.

He is an advocate for many Fire Department initiatives, including programs such as Home Fire Inspections and Fall Prevention for Older Adults.

Theisen is a graduate of Spec Howards School of Broadcast Arts and holds certifications as a Firefighter, EMT-Specialist, CPR and Fire Instructor, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Fire Inspector I and Fire Officer I, II and III. He also serves on the Western Wayne County Hazardous Material Response Team.
