The girls basketball team (16-5) survived and advanced in the MHSAA District 18 bracket on Monday night with a 41-31 win over Salem.
Sophomore guard Kerri McMahan had one of her best games of the year, scoring 20 points to lead all scorers on the night. Jade Antolec also had a big game inside, going for 11 points while dominating the boards. Seniors Abby Chandler and Sam Pavlika each chipped in four points, and Abby Robinson rounded out Novi's attack with two.

The Cats next take the floor against Canton in the district semifinal on Wednesday at 7 p.m. A win there will put them in the district final on Friday against either Northville or South Lyon.
