Several Cars Broken Into in Novi
The following information was supplied by the Novi Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Several incidents of property being stolen from cars were reported in Novi from Aug. 17 to 20.
A resident of Greenwich Drive reported that his laptop and golf clubs were stolen from his car while he was away for the weekend, according to a police report. The man left his car parked in the driveway on Aug. 17 and did not check it until Aug. 20, when he found the items missing, the report said. The man said he did leave the back doors to the car unlocked, the report said.
A man reported that items were stolen from his Jeep Wrangler while it was parked in the lot at Twelve Oaks Mall by Macyβs on Aug. 20, according to a police report. The man said two of his friends left their belongings in the Jeep, which had the hardtop removed, when they went into the mall around 8 p.m., the report said. The three returned around 9:30 p.m. to find that two backpacks missing from the car β containing an iPod and cell phone among other things, the report said. Twelve Oaks told the Novi Police that they would check if they caught anything on surveillance, the report said.

A man reported that he witnessed two suspects attempting to break into cars at Orchard Hill Place on Aug. 20 around 5 p.m., according to a police report. The man was in his office on the second floor when he saw two males pulling on the handles of a car and then breaking out the rear driver side window, the report said. The man then saw one of the suspects enter the car and pull out a piece of luggage, the report said. The man said the two suspects then went over to a nearby sedan and tried to open the doors, possibly with a tool, the report said. The man then saw the suspects crouch town, apparently alerted by a pedestrian walking by, the report said. The suspects then each got in separate cars and drove away, the report said. The police arrived and were unable to locate the suspects, the report said. Β The witness took two photos of incident with cell phone, but they did not capture car plates and they police were unable to identify the suspects, the report said. The owners of the two cars were contacted and confirmed that there was new damage on their cars, the report said.
