Trial Set for Novi Pediatrician Accused of Criminal Sexual Conduct

Jeffrey Lee Dembs of West Bloomfield faces up to life in jail for the sexual crimes with a person younger than 13.

The Novi pediatrician accused of criminal sexual content will be heading to trial on May 20, according to the Observer & Eccentric.

Jeffrey Lee Dembs, 61, a West Bloomfield resident and doctor at theΒ My Kid's Doc officeΒ on 12 Mile Road near Meadowbrook Road in Novi, is being accused of one count of first degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct, all with a person younger than 13.

A police report states that the sexual incidents took place more than 70 times over a two-year period from 2009-2010.

According to the Observer & Eccentric, Dembs had a motion hearing before an Oakland County Circuit judge on March 20. The judge will be looking at records in the near future.

Defense attorney Gerry Gleeson previously said that Dembs went on a voluntary leave of absence after his arrest was made in late November.

According to the Observer & Eccentric, Dembs remains free after paying a $150,000 cash bond, and he has a GPS tether.

If found guilty of first degree criminal sexual conduct, Dembs could face life in jail.
