Public Invited to Hear Upcoming Novi Rotary Speakers

Upcoming speakers include Novi Mayor Bob Gatt and the director of the Michigan State Police.

The public is invited to join the Novi Rotary Club at its upcoming meetings, which will feature a series of speakers.

Novi Rotary meets Thursdays at noon at at 41671 W. 10 Mile Rd., except on Jan. 31 when the group will meet on a Tuesday with Northville Rotary at in Northville.

The upcoming speakers include:

Jan. 12

  • Speaker: RJ Webber, Assistant Superintendant for Academic Services at Novi Community Schools
  • Speach: "Reflections on Japanese Culture"
  • About: RJ Webber will be our speaker and will be discussing his recent trip to Japan and insights from his trip that might be incorporated into the Novi Schools curriculum.

Jan. 19

  • Speaker: Lt. Neil Myres, Polygraph Unit, Dearborn Police
  • Speach:"CSI Detroit—The real scoop on polygraph tests"
  • About: Don't miss this week as we get a taste of the acclaimed CSI Series but with a real world twist. Lt. Neil Myres will be our guest. Myres is a Polygraph Supervisor in the Dearborn Police Department and will help us separate fact from fiction when it comes to the use of polygraphs in criminal cases.

Jan. 31

  • Speaker: Col. Kriste Kibbey Etue, Director, Michigan State Police
  • Speach:"Return visit to the Northville Rotary Club"
  • Location: , 200 E. Main Street, Northville
  • About: Novi Rotary will be meeting with the Northville Rotary for this meeting. We are honored to be have as our speaker Col. Kriste Kibbey Etue. Etue was appointed to the cabinet-level position of Director of the Michigan State Police by Governor Rick Snyder effective Jan. 9, 2011. Etue is the 18th director in the 93-year history of the department and she is the department's first female director. As director, Etue also serves as State Director of Emergency Management and as Michigan's Homeland Security Director.

Feb. 16

  • Speaker: Novi Mayor Bob Gatt
  • Speach: "Novi 2012 — Risks and Opportunities"
  • About: Our very special guest will be our new mayor, Bob Gatt, who will be discussing the major issues facing Novi during 2012 and opportunities for Rotary to be of service to our community.

Feb. 23

  • Speaker: Kathy Crawford, Oakland County Commissioner
  • Speach: "Oakland County and Regional Update"
  • About:  Please join us as we welcome Oakland County Commissioner Kathy Crawford who will be updating us on county and regional issues of interest.
