Women's Health Care Classic Success

More than $300,000 raised for women's services at local Corewell Health hospitals

On June 16, the 33rd annual Women’s Health Care Classic was held at the Dearborn Country Club. Hosted by title sponsors Karen Wilson Smithbauer and Drs. Harris, Birkhill, Wang, Songe & Assoc., PC, the event raised more than $300,000 to support women’s health care services at Corewell Health hospitals in Dearborn, Taylor, Trenton and Wayne.

More than 180 golfers enjoyed the day that included 18-hole mixed tournament play in the morning, 9-hole women-only play in the afternoon, food and refreshments, a pro shop shopping experience, and awards ceremony.

“We are grateful to everyone who took part in this year’s Women’s Health Care Classic, including our generous sponsors who helped make the day possible,” said Ryan Daly, president, Corewell Health Foundation Southeast Michigan. “The outstanding turnout shows just how dedicated and committed this community is to helping others. Together, they’re helping to ensure that exceptional health care will continue to be available to all who need it.”

Event proceeds support the acquisition of advanced medical equipment, scholarships for uninsured and underinsured women in need of breast care services, transportation to and from appointments, facility renovations and updates, endowments for continuing care giver education and a nurse navigator program, among others.

In addition to sponsors and the generous group of golfers, community leaders on the Women’s Health Care Classic Fundraising Committee played a key role in helping to make this event a success. The 2025 fundraising committee included co-chairs Dr. Donald Conn and Karen Wilson Smithbauer, and members Rob Bovitz, Kristine Donahue, RN, Jan Fitzgerald, Chris Flores, Nancy Gray, Debbie Guido-Allen, Donna Inch, Mary Kosch, Bethany Parish, and Robert Rosowski.
