Fidel Castro's Exiled Daughter to Speak at Oakland University
Alina Fernandez will talk about her experiences growing up in Cuba, fleeing the country and her involvement in a movement of political dissent, according to the university.

Oakland University will host a lecture by Alina Fernandez, the daughter of Fidel Castro, from 7-9 p.m. Monday at Varner Recital Hall in part of OU's Hispanic Celebration Month.
Â
Fernandez is scheduled to speak about her experiences growing up in Cuba, fleeing the country and "her role in a movement of political dissent," according to the college.
“Alina Fernandez gives a really rare insight into Cuban life and politics,” stated Michelle Alwardt, director of OUSC Legislative Affairs, on the university website. “She’s an activist, a family woman and a rebel all at once.”Â
