Oakland County Man Dies After Crash: Sheriff

Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, MI — A 69-year-old man died Monday after a weekend crash in Oakland County, according to the county sheriff's Office.

The crash happened at 10:15 p.m. Saturday on Ortonville Road near Amy Drive in Independence Township, officials said.

Officials said Dwaine Paul McCutcheon was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado when he pulled onto Ortonville Road from a private driveway north of Amy Road and struck a 2008 Honda Civic that was moving south on Ortonville Road.

McCutcheon, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was injured and taken to a nearby hospital where he died two days later, officials said.

Officials did not believe his injuries were life-threatening at the time of the crash.

The 25-year-old Holly man, who was driving the Honda and wearing his seatbelt, was not injured in the crash, officials said.
