2 Injured In Shooting On I-275 In Wayne County: Police

The driver and passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.​​​​

ROMULUS, MI — Two people were shot while driving on Interstate 275 in Wayne County late Tuesday, according to Michigan State Police.

The shooting happened at 11:20 p.m. Tuesday in the southbound of the freeway near Eureka Road in Romulus, according to police.

Troopers said a person initially called 911 and said they were driving east on Interstate 94 near Wayne Road where two people in their car had been shot.

The call was disconnected and emergency dispatchers called them back, but the call was dropped again, according to police.

Dispatchers tracked the call to Oakwood Main Hospital in Taylor, where troopers found the caller and passengers, according to police.

The 911 caller and passengers told troopers they were driving south on Interstate 275 between Interstate 94 and Eureka Road when an unknown car approached them and fired shots, according to police.

The 35-year-old driver and a 23-year-old Harper Woods man were hurt in the shooting, suffering non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The two other passengers in the car were not injured, according to police.

Police said there was also a shooting earlier Tuesday on Interstate 96 in Detroit. A 27-year-old Redford woman was injured in that shooting.
