Police Bust Metro Detroit Counterfeit Cash Ring, 3 Arrested: Cops
Police said the counterfeit cash was passed around at roughly 50 metro Detroit businesses.
DETROIT — Three people have been arrested in connection with a metro Detroit counterfeiting ring passing fake $100 bills, according to police.
Police in Canton noticed an increase of counterfeit $100 bills being passed at local businesses in November. They also learned that nearby communities were also seeing the fake bills. In all, they believe the fake bills were passed around at roughly 50 businesses.
An investigation led officers to a home in the 17000 block of Salem Street in Detroit, where they learned the counterfeit money was being printed, according to police.

Last week, officers raided the home and found printers, chemicals, tools and ink that they said were used to produce fake money, according to police.
Investigators also found several firearms inside the home, some of which were confirmed as stolen.

During the search, officers arrested Darrion Daniels, 26, Darrien Daniels, 24, and Renard Scales 25, all of Detroit, according to police.
Darrion Daniels was charged with counterfeiting coins or notes, possession of counterfeiting tools and four counts of felony firearms.

Renard Scales was charged with counterfeiting coins or notes and possession of counterfeiting tools.
They were each placed in jail with a $100,000 bond. Their next court date is scheduled for Dec. 30.
