2 Men Charged In Wayne County Chop Shop Operation: Police
Two men are facing charges in connection with an illegal chop shop operation, according to the Michigan Attorney General's Office.
WAYNE, MI — Two men are facing charges in connection with an illegal chop shop operation, according to the Michigan Attorney General's Office.
Mohamad El-Hadi, 41, of Canton, was charged with one count of motor vehicles – operating a chop shop (10-year felony) and three counts of stolen property – receiving and concealing a motor vehicle (5-year felony each). He was placed in jail and given a $25,000 bond.
Dani Mourad, 44, of Dearborn Heights, was charged with charged with one count of stolen property – receiving and concealing a motor vehicle. He was placed in jail and given a $15,000 bond.

El-Hadi and Mourad are both expected back in court on Aug. 18.
Officials said El-Hadi owned and operated Hadi’s Cash for Cars in Wayne where officials found at least three vehicles reported stolen that were crushed in the company’s tow yard, including a 2009 Kia Sorrento, a 2013 Honda Odyssey and a 2017 Buick Encore.

Mourad, who was an employee at Hadi’s Cash for Cars, picked at least one of the stolen vehicles, officials said.
"The Auto Fraud Task Force was created to tackle exactly this kind of alleged criminal activity," Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said. "By embedding prosecutors directly within the Michigan State Police, we can continue dismantling auto theft and chop shop operations that threaten communities across our state."
