The Plymouth YMCA will be holding its 34th annual Father’s Day Run Sunday, on the streets of Downtown Plymouth. This event includes several races for people of all ages.
The first race will be a quarter mile Fun Run for kids at 7:30 a.m., followed by a one mile walk or run at 8 a.m., a 5K walk or run beginning at 8:15 a.m., and a 10K run starting at 8:45 a.m. Runners will also able to participate in Morse Dental Group’s MDG Triple, which is 10.3 miles.
Not only is this event a way to celebrate fathers, but it acts as a fundraiser for the YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign as well.
“As a partner with the Michigan Fitness Foundation, the Fathers Day Run has made a commitment to help in the mission to get Michigan on it’s feet and directly contribute to the goal to revitalize the health of Michigan,” Cindy Morency, the event's organizer, said.
New to the event this year is the “Tie One on for Dad” promotion. All runners wearing ties will be entered to win a Detroit Tigers ticket package.
Volunteers are still needed. Contact Cindy Morency at cmorency@ymcadetroit.org if interested.
