47K Without Power In Metro Detroit, Restoration Sunday For Some

Power outages are scattered across Metro Detroit. DTE says it could be Sunday before power is back for some customers.

METRO DETROIT, MI — DTE Energy says about 47,000 Metro Detroit customers are still without power as of Friday morning. Outages are widely scattered with small pockets of outages clustered around areas where high winds knocked power out Thursday evening, according to the company.

Here’s a listing of some of the areas still affected by outages as of 9:25 a.m. Friday:

  • Plymouth Township - Plymouth Road between Mill Street and I-275 went out at 7:55 p.m. Thursday because of wind. DTE expects to have power back on by Friday night at 11:30 p.m.
  • Plymouth Township - Ann Arbor Road at Mill Street went out at 8:28 p.m. and DTE projects restoration at Friday at 11:30 p.m.
  • City of Plymouth- Penniman Avenue at Main Street will be restored by 4 p.m. after being out since 8:40 p.m. on Thursday.
  • Novi - Meadowbrook Road between Nine and Ten Mile Road. Wind knocked out power at 4:37 a.m. Friday. Power will not be restored until Sunday at 4 p.m., DTE says.
  • Troy - Crooks Road south of Big Beaver Road. Power has been out since Thursday at 7:27 p.m. and is projected to be restored on Sunday at 4 p.m.
  • Birmingham - East of Woodward Avenue and south of Lincoln Avenue. Power will be restored at 4 p.m. Sunday.
  • Royal Oak - Woodward Avenue and Lincoln. Power has been out since 9:30 p.m. Thursday and is projected to be restored at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday.
  • Royal Oak - South of 11 Mile Road between Campbell and I-75 is also projected to be back on by 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
  • St. Clair Shores - Between 10 Mile and 11 Mile east of I-94 near Princeton Street. Power was knocked out at 9:05 p.m. Thursday and should be back on by 4 p.m. on Sunday.

DTE Energy crews are working 16-hour shifts to restore power, according to the company. The storm impacted more than 69,000 customers and DTE crews have restored power to 22,000 as of Friday morning.
