5 Things You Need to Know Today — Oct. 3, 2012
Here's what's going on today in Plymouth and Canton.

Trivia: In what year was the parking deck in downtown Plymouth first erected?
Yesterday's trivia answer: The Detroit Tigers last earned back-to-back playoff berths in 1934-35. Bonus question answer: Carl Yastrzemski's Triple Crown win in 1967 is the last time a major league hitter has led the league in home runs, RBIs and batting average, a feat dubbed the triple crown. The Tigers' Miguel Cabrera could be the first to accomplish such a feat since 1967.
5. Today is Student Count Day
Send your children to school today because it's count day in Michigan. Count day is when all public schools in Michigan tally the number of students attending their schools. This is an important day for districts because each student in attendance translates into state funding. October's count day results represent 90 percent of state funding for the school district.
