Canton Police Arrest Men Accused of Shoplifting

The following information was provided by the Canton Township and Plymouth Township police departments. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Canton Township Police responded Oct. 15 to Walmart, 45555 Michigan Ave., for a report of a two suspected shoplifters leaving the store and heading toward a parked vehicle, according to a police report.

A witness pointed out the suspects to police, the report said, as they approached a silver Dodge Intrepid, and police took the pair into custody.

The store’s loss prevention officer told police the pair were responsible for several thefts from the store in recent weeks and observed the two suspects that day leaving the store without paying for two television sets, the report said.

When the employee tried to stop the pair, the report said, they walked away from the cart and ran toward the car.

Both suspects received trespass notices from the store and police arrested both while charges are pending. Both suspects have extensive histories of retail fraud charges, the report said.

Damage reported to vehicle in Plymouth Township

Plymouth Township Police responded Oct. 8 to the 8900 block of Mayflower for a report of damage to a vehicle, according to a police report.

The vehicle owner told police her son had driven her 2005 Ford Escape and parked it in front of the house at 11 p.m. on Oct. 7, the report said. When her son returned to the vehicle, she told police, the driver’s side mirror was missing.

Police have no suspects.
