Concert Crashed By Elderly Driver
Plymouth's "Music In The Air" concert series was interrupted by a driver that crashed through a barrier and hit a fire engine.

PLYMOUTH, MI — Plymouth’s popular Friday night concert series kicked off with a little more excitement than city leaders were looking for on May 26. An elderly woman drove her car through a “road closed” barricade at Penniman Avenue and Main Street shortly after 8 p.m. The vehicle wound up striking and damaging a brand new city fire engine.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported. The fire engine was parked in front of the Penn Theater on Penniman Avenue to help block the street, Plymouth City Manager Paul Sincock said, according to Plymouth Observer report. “Thankfully, she hit the fire truck,” he told the newspaper. “There were people all over the street because the road was closed.”
No arrests were made in connection with the incident. Police, fire and Huron Valley Ambulance teams assisted at the scene, the Observer reported.

The fire truck involved in the incident is the newest in the city fleet. Sincock said the city will put the backup pumper truck immediately into service at the City Hall Station until repairs on the damaged vehicle can be completed, the Observer reported. The city will have two pumper trucks and an aerial bucket truck working in the city, Sincock said.
