Demand For Software Developers Is High

METRO DETROIT, MI — If a job in information technology is what you’re looking for, software developer isn’t a bad place to start out. According to U.S. News and World Report’s “Best Technology Jobs,” software developer is ranked No. 2.

Software developers are in high demand right now. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projected a 19-percent employment growth for software developers between 2014 and 2024, which is much faster than average for all occupations, the magazine reported. In that period, an estimated 135,300 jobs will become available.

Software developers are employed in a range of industries, including computer systems design, electronic product manufacturing and finance. A scan of local job listings confirms U.S. News and World Report’s findings. More than 100 jobs have been posted within 25 miles of Plymouth in the past 10 days.
