L.A. Bistro Coming To Canton

The Italian restaurant, which serves Halal meat, offers an extensive and varied menu.

CANTON, MI — One of Dearborn’s highest-rated restaurants is coming to Canton. L.A. Bistro serves Italian cuisine with a focus on fresh food cooked to perfection.

“For those with pure food indulgence in mind, join us and sate your desires with our ever changing seasonally inspired fine dining,” the company says on its website. “We love food, lots of different food, just like you.”

The original Dearborn restaurant opened in 2001. Owners have created a Canton website, but details about when and where it will open have not been released.

Visitors to the Dearborn location have given L.A. Bistro two large thumbs up, however. After more than 150 reviews on Yelp, the restaurant garners four out of five stars.

“Wonderful place to eat. Amazing service,” wrote Anisa J. of West Hartford, Conn. in an Oct. 6 review. “And the owner goes the extra mile for his guests. Also, I typically hate eating chicken but the almond chicken is amazing.”

The restaurant was started Samir Johair and his three sons in West Dearborn. Johair claims his restaurant is the first Italian bistro to serve Halal meat.

L.A. Bistro does have an extensive menu. While there are classic Italian dishes like spaghetti and fettuccine Alfredo, there are also seven different chicken entrees, steaks, seafood and and even vegetarian fare like eggplant parmesan, and mushroom ravioli with cream sauce. A variety of salads, rollups and sandwiches are also served.

At least one Canton resident has made the trek across Michigan Avenue to Dearborn to try the restaurant. Maria R. gave L.A. Bistro a five star rating on Yelp on Sept. 26.

“Awesome place, can here for birthday dinner,” she wrote. “Overall enjoyable experience, the honey shrimp And almond chicken were really good. The buffalo pizza was super salty but they didn't charge us for it.”
