Marshmallow Drop Cherished Easter Tradition for 32 Years

Thousands of Wayne County children will gather at two parks and race for marshmallows, which can be exchanged for prizes.

WAYNE COUNTY, MI – If you and the kids can’t make it to Wayne County’s 32nd Annual Marshmallow Drop at 9 a.m. Friday in Elizabeth Park in Trenton, you’ll have a second chance at 11 a.m. at Nankin Mills in Westland.

Thousands of Wayne County children will gather at the parks for the annual Easter season tradition. A helicopter will drop 20,000 marshmallows from the sky, and children will race to pick up as many as possible to exchange for prizes.

“Wayne County’s Marshmallow Drop has been a cherished family tradition for 32 years,” Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans said in a statement. “The Marshmallow Drop kicks off of a highly anticipated season of fun activities for our Parks Division and we hope that residents and visitors will join us because it really is an exciting time for the entire family to enjoy.”
