Michigan Wolverines QB Retires After Suffering Fifth Concussion
Michigan Wolverines quarterback Jack Tuttle is hanging up the cleats due to injuries he has been dealing with.

ANN ARBOR, MI — Michigan Wolverines quarterback Jack Tuttle is hanging up the cleats after suffering the fifth concussion of his career, along with a nagging elbow injury, he said in a social media post.
"The decision, though difficult, comes after deep reflection and heartfelt conversations with my family, doctors and loved ones," Tuttle said.
The seventh-year senior has dealt with numerous injuries throughout his college football career, including a UCL tear in his elbow in his throwing arm that forced him to miss spring camp this past year.

Tuttle said he never fully recovered from the injury and that he has been dealing with ongoing issues from the surgery. In addition, he recently suffered the fifth concussion of his football career.
"The recent experience of enduring my fifth concussion has brought forth the painful truth: that I need to start prioritizing my health," Tuttle said. "Throughout my college career, I’ve battled numerous injuries, culminating in this difficult choice to step away from playing the game that I love."

Tuttle's first in-game action this year came at Washington when he stepped in for Alex Orji. The Wolverines went on to lose that game 27-17. Tuttle then started the next week in a 21-7 loss to Illinois.
Tuttle began his career at Utah before transferring to Indiana, where he backed up Michael Penix Jr. In 2023, he transferred to Michigan where he backed up J.J. McCarthy and was on the 2023 National Championship team.
Overall, Tuttle played in seven games for the Wolverines across two years, completing 45 of 67 passes for 436 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
Michigan (5-3, 3-2 Big Ten) will host No. 1 Oregon (8-0, 5-0) this Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. The game will be televised on CBS.
