Music, Food, Fireworks Highlight Canton Liberty Fest

Canton's annual Liberty Fest kicks off soon with three days packed full of fun.

CANTON, MI — Two stages of live entertainment, carnival rides, and a grand finale fireworks show highlight this year’s Canton Liberty Fest June 15-17. The event, which takes place at Heritage Park adjacent to Canton Township Hall, is in its 26th installment and will also feature a 5K and 10K “Liberty Run.”

While many of the festival’s events will be familiar to Canton residents, a few things have changed. Special “sensory hours” will be held on Thursday, June 15, from 1-3 p.m. The idea is to help festival-goers with special needs by turning off carnival rides and Midway games with lights and music.

The Taste of Liberty Fest and the Adult Beverage Tent have changed locations, too. They will now be next to Canton’s amphitheater. A host of local eateries will participate in the Taste of Liberty Fest.

On all three days of Liberty Fest, the Canton Rotary Club will be hosting an Adult Beverage Tent. But food is only a part of the Liberty Fest fun. Live music will be on stage throughout the festival and will be highlighted Friday by Seven to Zero, a popular local cover band, and Emerging Soul will play your favorite hits from Etta James to Bruno Mars. On Saturday, Weekend Comeback performs Pop, Rock, Motown, and more from 6:15-7:30 p.m.; and Crush, Detroit’s best Bon Jovi cover band, performs from 8-10 p.m.
